Cookware Company acquires German brand

Renowned for its GreenPan brand, The Cookware Company has acquired German cookware company, Merten & Storck

The Cookware Company, known for its GreenPan, GreenChef and BK brands, has acquired German cookware company, Merten & Storck

The German company, which has been manufacturing enamelled cookware in the small town of Frensteinfurt in western Germany since 1906, had sales of more than US$11.2 million last year, according to a press release.

“Consumers have largely forgotten about enamelled cookware, but we intend to change this,” says Wim de Veirman, CEO, The Cookware Company. “The product’s durable and environmentally friendly characteristics make it a perfect fit for our existing range.”

Merten & Storck primarily manufactures for third parties, though it does boast its own brands, including Kochstar.

“The limited turnover says absolutely nothing about this segment’s potential,” adds Jan Helskens, chairman of The Cookware Company. “With the quality label Made in Germany, we are setting our sights firmly on the Asian market.”

The Cookware Company integrated the Dutch firms BK and Koninklijke Van Kempen & Begeer into its existing range and distribution channels last year, and grew by more than 20 per cent.

The Cookware Company operates in 90 countries and achieved a turnover of US$210 million dollars with more than 1,300 employees in 2018.

“Our ambition is to double this again over the coming three years,” adds Jan. “We made the same promise in 2015 and delivered on it in 2018. Growth will mainly be organic in nature, but we are not ruling out further acquisitions.”
