Smeg wins Red Dot Awards

For the fifth consecutive year, Italian brand Smeg has taken home the Red Dot Design Award for three of its products

The four-slice toaster, DCF Drip Coffee Machine and Dolce Stil Novo Oven from Smeg’s 50s Style small appliances range are recipients of this year’s Red Dot Design Awards. It is the fifth consecutive year that Smeg has won this accolade.

With over 5,500 entries from 55 different countries, the Awards jury picked winners on the basis of not only excellent design, but customisability and adaptability to individual needs. Other criteria included degree of innovation, functionality, longevity, ergonomics and self-explanatory nature.

The recently-launched Dolce Stil Novo Oven is a 90cm reduced-height model boasting pyrolytic cleaning, eclipse glass technology and an A+ energy rating. It includes 12 different cooking functions, as well as more than 50 automatic programmes – including defrost and proving functions – and comes with a choice of copper or silver trims.

Off the back of this success, Smeg’s beautiful appliances will be featured in the Red Dot Year Book, on the Red Dot App, as well as a spot in the Museum of Essen.

“The prominence of these awards is hugely rewarding and reaffirms Smeg’s passion for creating beautiful appliances,” says the brand.

For 70 years, Smeg has been combining aesthetics and technology, creating both style and functionality.
